A representative from the EU-China project, who presented the case of Chengdu in China, and a representative from CITYNET and CIFAL Bilbao also participated.

The workshop was opened by Ms. Chen Ping, Director of International Cooperation Section of Shanghai Municipal Informatization Commission, followed by introduction of speakers and participants. Through an ice-breaking session led by UNITAR, participants got to know each other better and it created a friendly atmosphere among them.

Mr. Javier del Pozo from CIFAL Bilbao presented the "Digital Local Agenda, its origin and the involvement of the Basque Government in the Information Society development", which raised questions and interests from participants. He encouraged everyone to visit the new website on the digital local agenda at www.digitallocalagenda.org after its launch in mid-April.

After one case study presentation by Indonesian association of municipalities, the first day was finished with the visit to Shanghai E&P International Inc., a publicly owned company who provides unified logistics information and e-commerce platform for Shanghai Grand Port and information network for Shanghai international shipping center. Dinner was kindly hosted by the Shanghai E&P International Inc.

On the second day, 3 case studies were presented by representatives from EU-China project, Pasay, Philippines and Kuala Lumpur. Participants actively participated in questions and answers sessions after each case study, as well as all knowledge management exercises. They also benefited from the Shanghai Information Exhibition, which demonstrated the history and various informatization projects of Shanghai Municipality.

At the end of the workshop, all participants were able to develop their own action plan and presented to the plenary. At the closing ceremony of the workshop, Mr. Shi Xingde, the Deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Informatization Commission made a speech, and an official certificate was handed out to all participants.
