Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 3 June 2006. The Decentralized Cooperation Programme (DCP) signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Associations (FLACMA) on the occasion of the FLACMA Executive Committee Meeting on the 3rd of June 2006.
DCP and FLACMA will strengthen their cooperation to further support local governments in the region through joint capacity-building activities. Capacity-building programmes are delivered through CIFAL Atlanta and CIFAL Curitiba in critical areas such as urban planning, environmental management, urban transportation or prevention of HIV/AIDS. New activities in the field of urban security policies and management of public spaces will be developed in 2006 in addition to current programmes.
FLACMA will hold the second Congress of Latin American Cities and Local Governments in Cali, Colombia, from 27th to 29th of July.
