UNITAR and UCLG join efforts

Barcelona, Spain, 29 June. United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) is the world organization of local governments. Its mission is to be the united voice and world advocate of democratic local self-government, promoting its values, objectives and interests, through cooperation between local governments, and within the wider international community.

Since the work of UNITAR DCP aims to develop the capacities of local decision-makers it is important to cooperate with the representatives of local government not only at the local but at the international level as well. In the framework of a major capacity-building project funded by the French Government, UNITAR DCP and UCLG will join efforts to assist local governments to better discharge of their functions. The activities include face-to-face training workshops in Africa, Asia and Latin America hosted by the CIFAL centres and virtual learning tools such as e-learning and and videoconferences. The project will be implemented in 2007-2009 and the first workshop will be held in August 2007 organized by CIFAL Curitiba. For more information please contact Ms. Berta Pesti.
