Tallinn, Estonia, 20-23 February 2007. The first seminar of CIFAL Tallinn on “Sustainable Urban Transportation” brought together 23 representatives of local authorities from 14 cities in Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine. The working languages were English and Russian.
The training workshop was jointly organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the City of Tallinn with support of the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the Principality of Monaco, and VEOLIA Environnement. Besides technical presentations and workgroup exercises, the participants were attending a field visit with a live demonstration of E-ticketing services in the public transport in Tallinn.
Mr. Arnold Rüütel, former President of Estonia, and Mr. Nicolas Frizon de Lamotte, Senior Coordinator of CIFAL Network at UNITAR handed out certificates to the participants. President Rüütel is a Senior Special Fellow of UNITAR since 1 January 2007.
CIFAL Tallinn will organize the next sessions on e-Governance (4-8 June 2007) and HIV/ AIDS prevention and management (19-23 September 2007).
