Durban (eThekwini), South-Africa, 17–19 May 2005. CIFAL Durban will hold its first workshop on e-administration from 17 to 20 May 2005. This workshop is targeted for Mayors and Heads of IT departments of cities of English speaking Africa. The main focus of this workshop is how to utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for city administration. The four-day programme includes lectures by experts within South Africa and abroad, as well as UNITAR’s Knowledge Management exercises in order to facilitate knowledge sharing and city-to-city cooperation among participants.
Around thirty Mayors and Heads of IT departments are expected to attend this workshop. This workshop is one of the technical workshops leading toward the II World Summit of Cities and Local Authorities on the Information Society (Bilbao Summit 2005) and the recommendations and action plans resulting from this workshop will be an important input for the Bilbao Summit.
