The main objective of this workshop is to raise awareness of “Digital Local Agenda” among local authorities in the Eastern European region, and to build capacity of these authorities in developing their own Digital Local Agenda.
In this workshop, participants had opportunities to:
Review the Bilbao Declaration and its implications;
Know what a ‘Digital Local Agenda’ is;
Learn innovative practices in e-Governance;
Share experiences with other participants in the area of e-Governance;
Be included in the follow-up mechanism of the Digital Local Agenda initiative;
Meet potential partners.
1.METHODOLOGY
The programme consists of the following elements:
Lectures by experts in the field of e-Government/Governance;
Best practice sharing and peer-assist by UNITAR’s Knowledge Management tools;
Presentation of case studies and experiences and discussion among participants;
Field visits of several Tallinn Municipal Government services that already offer advanced e-governance programme to citizens in Tallinn.
2.BENEFITS FOR PARTICIPANTS
By participating in this Digital Local Agenda awareness raising workshop, participants have:
Gained knowledge about the international initiative on building a Digital Local Agenda;
Gained knowledge about innovative practices in e-Governance;
Identified partner(s) for building an e-Governance project;
Prepared a plan of action for their municipality.
3.PARTICIPANTS
Mayors, decision-makers, and representatives of municipal governments from the Eastern European region.

UNITAR and CIFAL Tallinn are be the main organizers of this workshop, with the kind contribution from the Basque Public Institutions and technical support from CIFAL Bilbao.
